Meteorological Technicians carry out the weather, climate, and other environmental observations and assist weather forecasters in the dissemination of forecasts, weather warnings, and related information, products, and services. A reliable forecast depends on how accurately the observations were made, encoded, and transmitted to the Weather Forecasting Center where the data are recorded and plotted on a synoptic chart. To qualify as a Meteorological Technician, it is necessary to complete the Basic Instruction Package for Meteorological Technicians (BIP-MT). The training course will produce qualified meteorological technicians who will be tasked to observe weather parameters to be used in weather analysis, diagnosis, and forecasting.
